Sesame milk with sabja/Tukmaria seeds

This is an unique combination of a healthy drink which is not only rich in antioxidants but also nutritious and delicious. Best enjoyed during summer. Since sesame is heat generating in nature adding Tukmaria seeds(also called as Sabja or sweet basil in India) makes it cooling..

Best enjoyed cold/ refrigerated.


Sesame seeds – 2 table spoons roasted.

Jaggery powder – 2 tablespoons

Cold Milk – 2 cups.

Cardamom pods – 2 . (Peeled and powdered).

Tukmaria/Sabja seed – 2 table spoons.(Soaked in half cup of water).


In a blender add all the above ingredients Except the Tukmaria/sabja seeds and blend them.

Take a strainer and strain it and pour them in glasses.

Now add a tablespoon each of the Sabja/Tukmaria seeds over each cup and mix it lightly.

The soaked seeds bloat and act as a coolant.

Enjoy it cold or at room temperature.

Amla Panna (Goose Berry)

This is a tangy spicy cooler which is normally prepared in summer to beat the heat, energise and cool the system.

Very refreshing, nutritious and appetising drink.

Medium sized amla -10 to 12

Jaggery – 3

Pepper corns -10 to 12

Ginger – 1 inch piece

Black salt/Kala namak – as per taste.

Cold water.2 cups.

Cut the amla bits into thin slices and add 2 cups of water and steam it for about 10 mins.

Then coarsely grind the pepper corns, ginger and keep aside.

Blend the the steamed amla and strain it.

Now add jaggery, and the ginger peppercorn mixture and black salt.

Mix well and serve the Panna.

Frozen Berries & Oats Smoothie

A creamy textured smoothie rich in antioxidants and natural sugar.

Healthier option as no extra sugar is added.

You may add a spoon of honey if needed.


Oats-1/4 cup

Frozen berries(Strawberries,Cherries,Blue berries,Black berries and Ras berries)- 2 table spoons

Chia seeds-1/4 spoon



Blend all of the above and pour in a cup.

The smoothie is ready!

1/2 banana

Milk, yogurt or Soya milk( I have used milk)

Mango Pine apple Pinacolada

Mango Pineapple Pinacolada

Tukmariya(Sabja) seeds

Mango-1 chopped

Pineapple-1/2 cup

Coconut milk-1/2 cup.

Honey-1 spn

Ice cubes-3-4

Lemon juice-1/2 spn

Blend all of the above except the sabja seeds.

serve it chilled adding the chilled sabja seeds.

Please note: Best to have it fresh as the coconut milk curdles otherwise.


Thandai(my style😉)

A coolant which is non intoxicating minus the

bhaang. Healthy, nutritious and also a energy drink to beat the summer heat.


Fennel seeds-1/2 T spn

Pepper corns-10-12

Poppy seeds-1/2 T spn

Mace-smaller than a pea

Soaked and skinned Almonds-15


Melon and sunflower seeds-1.5 Tspn

Cardamom-6-7 pods

Saffron strands-6-7


Milk-2+1 cups

Dried rose petals-1/2 T spn

Gulkand-1/4 spn.


Refrigerate 2 cups of milk.

Take all the above ingredients and powder them in a mixie.

Now heat a cup of milk and add the above mixture and cook well till it thickens and as it gets thicker put off the flame.

Allow to cool.

Mix it into the refrigerated milk.

Mix well and refrigerate it until it’s cold.

Pour in the cups and garnish with fresh rose petals and nuts .

I have not added any sugar as the dates and gulkand already are sweet.
