Urad dal vadi/Odi:
- 1 cup urad dal soaked
- 1/2 cup green chillies
- Salt as per taste
- Asafoetida 1 small spoon.
Soak urad dal for 3-4 hours and grind to a smooth dry batter just as we do for vadas. Chop the green chillies and an add it to the urad batter along withAsafoetida and salt and mix well. Take a clean sheet of plastic sheet and put a spoonful keeping alittle gap and sun dry for 5-6 days.
I have added 1 table spoon of coarse jeera to the batter.
- Onion Vadi/Odi
- 2 cups-Raw white rice
- 6-7 medium sized onions finely chopped.
- Red chilli powder- 4 table spoons.
- 1/2 cup sabu dhana.
- Salt to taste.
Wash rice and sabudhana under a running tap.Soak rice alongwith sabudhana for about 3-4 hours. Grind the above mixture to a smooth paste adding the chilli powder and enough water.
Heat a kadai and cook the mixture until it thickens and is cooked. Put off the flame and add in the chopped onions and cover the vessel and allow the mixture to cool.
Mix well and spread the vadis on a sheet and sun dry for 5-6 days
